Last Friday was OSU’s annual Homecoming and Hoops pep rally, which takes place the day before the Homecoming football game and serves to get fans pumped up for the beginning of basketball season. Here are some shots of what took place last Friday night.
Homecoming Queen and King nominees were introduced to the crowd. Randy Gordon and Amy Lynn Truitt, pictured here, were crowned King and Queen at Saturday’s game.
Greek houses turned up in droves to watch the event.
After the cheerleaders performed a flashmob broke out, featuring students, faculty, basketball players and even OSU’s First Cowgirl Ann Hargis.
Next it was time for the OKState women’s basketball team to scrimmage against one another.
After the Cowgirls finished their scrimmage the Malaysian drum troupe performed for a captivated crowd.
The Cowboys entered the arena in boxing robes and gloves, which sent the crowd into a frenzy.
Before the scrimmage 3 members of the team, Markel Brown, Brian Williams and newcomer LeBryan Nash, participated in a dunk contest. Several cowboy basketball alums served as the judges.
After the dunk contest was over (Markel Brown was declared the winner) the scrimmage began.
Coach Ford’s son joined him in watching the team scrimmage. (How alike do they look?? ADORABLE.)
Lastly, here are a couple shots I snapped after Homecoming and Hoops was over. Two of the Homecoming nominees dressed up as the President and his wife, Burns and Ann Hargis. Luckily Burns and Ann seemed to subscribe to the belief that imitation is the best form of flattery.
